Remedial Massage is an umbrella term that includes several specialised techniques including:
Deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilisation, lymphatic drainage, sports massage and more.
Remedial massage is usually a deeper form of massage that involves removing knots and straightening muscle fibres in order to bring your muscles back to normal health. This reduces pain, tension, aches and calms the body and mind. Remedial massage is focused on your problem areas (most commonly neck, shoulders, back and lower back) and is not commonly a full body massage. There are exceptions, and you should always discuss a treatment plan with your therapist to get the massage you require.
Both our therapists are qualified to perform both Remedial & Relaxation pregnancy massage. Pregnancy massage is safe during the second and third trimesters.
Pregnancy can be quite taxing on the body and mind, with women often getting increased pain and tension. Remedial massage helps ease any tension built during this time and removes knots that may be referring aches and pains. Relaxation massage is very useful during pregnancy to reduce stress on the body and joints as well as the mind, and can lessen fluid retention.
We use Belly Pillows so that the pregnant woman can lay face down with their bellies supported and really enjoy the massage. We can also do a side laying massage for those uncomfortable with laying face down.
Please request to book in with Cindy Leishman, our therapist that specialises more in pregnancy massage.
Our therapists are trained Swedish massage, one of the original relaxation techniques created, and is very therapeutic. This technique uses varied pressures, usually soft, to calm the body and mind. This massage is commonly performed as a full body massage, but can be altered to a neck/shoulder/back massage or any treatment plan decided by you and the therapist.
This massage reduces stress in the body & mind, lowers blood pressure and increases immunity.
